Inconsistent thoughts

It's not everyday that one feels like writing what's been going on with their lives. There are things that are better kept unsaid or in simple words, remain secret. But sometimes keeping a secret is not as easy as it seems to be. There are times when emotion is unstable because of many thoughts that are circling around the head. And to add the stress that's being felt are the people who aren't sensitive enough to what you are feeling. Instead of understanding you more, there are just there to annoy you and provoke your temper. And when you burst out they are the ones interrogating why you are like these, and that. They didn't even dare to ask themselves what have been they doing lately. But after thinking more and more what's happened, you realized that it is you whom to blame for what you are feeling. Maybe because you are now able to think clearly and feels so regretful of what you did. But what can you do? What is done is done and what you can do is just continue your life and see what happens tomorrow? But what if it gets worse? Then worse it shall be. You have no control on what will happen tomorrow. Just keep in mind to do things that don't harm any other people. You might not know it yet but there are lots of people around you who might get hurt. Maybe even the ones who love you very dearly. You may not notice it yet but there are lots of people around you who cares for you and treasure them very much because it maybe already too late to reach out to them again. Live life happily the way it should be.

Sick...

November 14, 2007

This morning, I woke up with a migraine. Aside from that, I also have a terrible stomach ache. I also have colds that made me sneeze so many times. To summarize all of these, I woke up having illness. My dorm mate suggested that I skip classes today. I said no because I did this to myself. It's my fault that I end up being sick. I abused my health and go beyond my limitations. My group mates will kill me if I will not go to school today. They might come to my dorm anyway to get me. I still have no escape from them. Hehehe!

Aside from my sickness story, I was pissed yesterday. Why? Because this guy was so angry because we were not able to give him Talent Quest registration form. He said that he was looking for form yet no one gave him any. Well, he didn't ask me for any form. I think he wanted us to beg him to join. He was so arrogant talking to me yesterday. Good thing I was in good mood that I didn't slapped him. He was such an ***! I think I will lie down and rest more before preparing for class.. :)

Thesis Statement

One of the requirements in our Englone class is to write a research paper about our chosen videos. I chose three videos: “Larger Than Life”, “Everybody”, and “As Long as You Love Me.” I want to study those three videos because they are all by Backstreetboys.

Thesis Statement: An examination of Backstreetboys music videos reveals that showcasing their skills in singing and dancing might not be the primary source of their fame but exploiting their physical attributes to obtain their “image.”

Milk tea or Iced tea?

That was my status message when I went home. I don't know what went to my mind that made me change my Available status message with that. I have been very busy with school works and everything. I feel very tired but it's not a reason for me to slack off. I just want to rest and get some sleep. There are a lot of things in my head right now and I can't focus on anything. I think I want to close my eyes and relax. I want to lie down because my neck and back is aching. But I can't do that because I still have so many deadlines. My subjects this term requires more reading. It's fine with me because I can't enhance my reading comprehension. Unfortunately, I am frequently experiencing migraine lately. I have no time to go to ophthalmologist to have my astigmatism checked because I have more important things to do. My time for doing school work last week was not that much because I encountered some minor accident that I have to take care. I was really glad that there was no major damage. (Thank God!) This week will be a very hectic and tiring. I pray that God will grant me patience for everything and that I will not have a HB (high blood) attack. It will be more tiring and stressful if I don't feel really good. I hope God will grant me strength to do my best and to finish everything. I want to sleep... but I can't...

Vacation Hang-over

The short vacation was really short for me. I brought some school work at home but unfortunately I was not able to do anything at all. At least I have the intention in doing so. Hehehehe. Monday after that short vacation was our group's scheduled reporting. I really crammed that morning to internalize my part because I just browsed through the topic the night before. I can't understand our report even I've read it more than ten times already. Maybe because I still have the vacation hang-over.

I think we did okay during our report. I like what I felt after our report last Monday because I think ( I really hope so...) I was able to discuss properly my topic unlike my report two weeks ago which I really prepared. I practiced how to present my discussion many times and I even memorized my seven-page report doing it. Maybe being prepared doesn't make us do well all the time. I guess I just have to accept everything that is happening and what will happen to me. :)

Chocolate wafer stick

One of my favorite chocolate snacks is chocolate wafer sticks. There are many brands of wafer sticks that are coming out today. Aside from that, additional flavors are being made like pandan, orange, and other more. Before, there was only chocolate. Strawberry and Vanilla flavors were not yet that popular.

Superstix and other brands were not yet introduced before. Popular brands were Champola and Giziku. Maybe there were other more but those two were the only brands that I used to buy. Stick-O was not yet known during that time.

I was happy that Giziku is still active. It is not that I don’t like Stick-O or Superstix. It is just that I prefer Giziku more because of how I eat wafer sticks. I eat wafer sticks by eating first the outer layer of the stick towards the inner layer. The layers of Giziku wafer sticks are easier to peel than any other wafer sticks. My Giziku wafer stick is still in one piece after I removed the outer layers. I suggest that you try this also if you have time. Hehehehe

2n in 2n

(First picture on my birthday)

Ever since I started college, I don’t spend my birthday at home. It is not that I live so far away from home. I am not living at our house during school days that’s why I spent my birthdays in school. I am not sad anyway.

This year I spent my birthday away from my home. It was okay with me because I was useful during my birthday. I helped cooked during NSTP camp. The Cooking Bosses are Master Chef = Ms. H, Master Rice Cooker = Ms. Dianne, and Master Butler = Ms. Sche. Early in the morning we cooked longanisa. The THM room smelled really good while we were cooking. Our lunch was more delicious because we cooked dried fish. We cooked tinolang manok for dinner. My favorite part was when we were cleaning the chicken at the sink. Hehehehehe

(Campers' lunch)

We used all the gas stoves in THM room.

I don’t have any plans of going out but a friend joked that I buy her ice cream. It was my birthday anyway so I bought a small can of ice cream for us.

Dinner Delivery

We don’t feel like eating can goods and frozen dinner tonight. So, we decided to call Brother’s Burger delivery instead. I think I was really that hungry because I absent-mindedly ordered Big Brother instead of Brother’s Burger. I was complaining that I was already full yet I haven’t finished my burger. It was only when I was thirsty that I realized I ordered the wrong burger. Well, anyway, that’s life.

My dinner...

LAN in class

Our professor said that LAN games started with counterstrike. I believe him even though I don’t play any LAN games. I mentioned this because last October 16, we did our own LAN game in class. We connected three computers in a switch and we tried playing counterstrike. It was nice because we were learning as we were playing. We were able to learn that it was not difficult to connect all the computers in a computer shop. The computers should have been four unfortunately there was one unit which has some technical problems. We could’ve played two-on-two that time. It was okay anyway because we have a small class and we don’t need so many computer units. I am wishing that we can perform more practical applications in that class.

This is my classmate playing counter strike on widescreen.

October 19, 2007

I woke up early and attended my class. We didn’t use up all the time in my first class so we were dismissed early. In my second class, we discussed about the guidelines in making a research paper. We still have a lot of time left before our class is over so we decided to play “silent dodge ball.” It was really fun because it’s a ball game but we were not allowed to make any noise. Controlling our shouting and excitement was a challenge. We didn’t have a lesson in my next class. Instead we helped connecting local area networking (LAN) cables for the programming competition on the following day. Measuring the length of the wires was easier than cutting and crimping because some of the tools were not sharp anymore. By the way, crimping is placing the two plastic ends of a LAN cable. That two plastic ends were also called as RJ45. The most exciting part was crimping because we have to make sure that all the wires in the LAN cable was properly connected. May last class was about Safety. Coincidentally, we were discussing about safety when we heard the news about what happened at G2. It was really sad. Our professor again reminded us to always be safe.

This evening was also the first of evening of the NSTP camp. We are hoping for a fun, exciting, and educational camp.

This was how the Media Lab looked like when we were placing LAN cables.

Seafood Pasta and Green Mango Shake

Last October 15, 2007, the Rotaract Club had Medical Mission with the Rotary Club of Laguna Technopark at Timbao Elementary School. There were lots of people who went there and but it was fun. It was only a half-day event and we went to Paseo after. Before we have our lunch, we went first to Neospot because there was no internet in school. We ate our lunch in Guilly’s at around one-thirty in the afternoon. I ordered Seafood Pasta and Green Mango Shake. I knew that the serving is bigger there. However, I didn’t expect that it is good for two persons. It was only the two of us and we both ordered the same. We should’ve ordered different pasta. We were surprised that we were given little plates. We have a hint that the serving is big and we find it okay, we were hungry anyway. We finished our pasta and shake but we were not able to have dessert because we were so full.

The serving is wider than me... :)

Out of School Youth

Nowadays, many youths are not in school. Some causes of this are lack of motivation, financial problems, and other additional factor. In addition to these, their living environment can also be a cause. In fact, if these youth are with people with no thought of going to school or having a bright future, they can be more prone to being included in the out of school youth.

Being an out of school youth is not the last part of the situation. Furthermore, it is just a phase in their lives. Many graduates are unemployed, therefore it is more likely that those who didn’t finished schooling will also be unemployed. Nevertheless, we can’t still say that out of school youth have no bright future. In fact, they may be luckier to get a decent job. However, they may encounter hard time because of their lack of experience and training. For instance, they work with those professionals and expect them to do more than their capabilities. They can easily be fired if the employer thinks that the employees are incapable.

Being an out of school youth is not an excuse for not doing well in life, therefore one must really strive hard to surpass some struggles. In addition, hard workers are well compensated in the future as long as they have goodness in their hearts.

After class

Yesterday, I went out with my friends after class. They played billiards and ordered some beer. I only drank two bottles but I felt that my head was really heavy. In addition to that, I have to withdraw some money because my roommate was asking me to buy something. What makes my head worse was that there were so many barricades because of the construction. It was like a maze going to that ATM machine and getting out of there. There were also many people that I got bumped to. I think that was also the effect of alcohol.

After their game, we ate at the public market. It was still early that we decided to stay at Paseo for a while. We just chat and listened to the music at Guilly’s. We talked about so many things and before we knew it, it was almost nine in the evening. We decided to go home so we all went home. Hehehe…

We have fun last night. I think we will do that again soon.

My dinner... :)

Thoughts on nanotechnology...

(Using technology developed to construct microchips, engineers can now construct microscopic machinery (like the gears shown in this electron microscope image, dwarfed by a mite). Future generations of nano-machinery promise to be even smaller. Source: Sandia National Laboratories.)

I have learned that nanotechnology was not that easy to explain. It was said that nanotechnology is very small. Its size is smaller than a nanometer. I’ve learned that nanotechnology is still in its infancy. Because during the mid-90’s, most engineers don’t think about small. They were thinking about big objects like big atomic bombs, big cars, and other big stuff. But there were other researchers who focus on making things smaller. Thus the invention of transistors and integrated circuits took place. But these small devices made the large devices. I’ve learned that during that time, electronics engineers were focusing on making things smaller and other engineers and scientists focus on smaller things. Those smaller things are atoms and molecules. They were studying how atoms are made and what’s the force that binds them together. They also understand how to combine atoms into molecules to produce useful things. Because of these, new studies were developed during the 80’s.

It was understood that nanotechnology was developed from the field of physics, chemistry, and electronics. There was this idea of making mechanical devices from atoms. But these resulting devices are bigger. Because the idea was to manipulate those atomic things.

There were these molecules that look like soccer balls. Scientists looked for practical use of these molecules. While they were searching for practical use of these molecules, other scientists discovered another thing. They invented this thing which can move atoms around. Because of these discoveries, new computers and software were developed for the scientists to stimulate and visualize chemical reactions of atoms and molecules. This is very helpful to them especially if they are dealing with complex molecules like DNA.

Genetic engineers were able to figure out ways on how to modify chemical reactions of DNA molecules and use them for scientific research. They were also able to replicate any DNA molecules they want to study. Because computers and other tools were available during the 90’s, they use DNA for construction of new chemicals and making tiny machines. There were able to make materials to interact with other materials and also attack diseases.

(Artist's rendition of the space elevator of the future. Source: IEEE Spectrum, Aug 2005)

As of now, the future of nanotechnology is not yet assured. But even so, engineers and scientists have a good vision about it. There was this thought that there will be long nanotubes to be used for space elevators. In the medical field nowadays, nanotechnologies can only detect diseased cancer cells for them to be easily targeted. But it is predicted that in the future, because of nanotechnology, nobody gets ill, gets old, or even die until they want to. There will be molecular machines that will be injected to us to repair unhealthy and aging cells. That means we will always have healthy cells.

Some researchers also believe that eventually they can assemble circuits atom by atom to create computer chips. The circuits in these chips will be much smaller and producing more power computers is possible. We can even upload and download our own personality into that computer.

Although many are optimistic about the nanotechnology, there are some researchers who evaluated the risk of this. Some say that there is a risk of allowing nanoparticles into the body. Others say that nanotechnology might get out of control that may lead to a great human disaster. There can be also a great competition of the bacteria, plants, and humans for natural resources.

The future of nanotechnology is still unsure. But whatever it is, the marvels of nanotechnology can come to life and downsides will be avoided if wisdom will be properly used.

Response to the feeling

We experience various happenings in life. There are times that we are up and there are times that we are down. Happiness is very easy to accept because it gives us good feeling. But during the time that we are so low or if there’s something hurtful that happens to us, we tend to give negative response to it. But our emotion is our own feeling and we can control it. It is our own decision that we are over powered by our inner thoughts. When something tragic has come our way, we have an option to deny or accept it. If we deny it, there can be so many regrets in our mind and all we can do is cry. It will be a burden in our heart unlike if we accept it. If we accept all things whole-heartedly then we won’t have a heavy feeling in our heart. During the time of regrets and denial, we think of many things. There will be times that we are mentally-absent. This can be a reason why there are some who space-out because they are very distracted. But if we can accept and move on, we can have peace of mind. We will not think of what if’s and if only’s because our thoughts are calm. If we continue in resisting the real thing, it will give us stress. And stress makes people older. But if we let go of whatever hurtful things in our own heart, we will be relieved. We can look prettier because we were able to carry our problems.

It is not that easy to accept everything that happens in our life. We should develop our accepting skill because it will benefit not only ourselves but also everything that surrounds us.

Underdog...

There was this Beagle who was not doing well in the force. There was an incident that they have to let him go. Wandering around the street, he was captured to become a guinea pig of a scientist. This scientist is making strengthening capsule and experimenting on dogs. During an experiment, this Beatle was able to intake the formula and became super strong. He was able to escape from that scientist.

He was walking along the alley when he was bumped by a security guard with his car. Seeing that he has no collar, he brought the dog home and gave it to his son. At first, his son was not thrilled of having a dog as his pet. When he learned that his dog has super powers, he was shocked at first but later on supporting his dog. They met a girl and her dog. That boy likes the girl and the Beagle likes her dog. The boy and the Beagle kept the super power secret. And the Beagle became very popular in saving the world.

Because of this, the scientist was able to pull his self together again with the help of his ever-loyal side-kick. He searched for that Beagle and he succeeded. He was able to make strengthening capsule again because of the Beagle’s DNA. Unfortunately, the boy’s family was at stake that the Beagle gave up his super powers for their safety. As expected, the scientist didn’t honor their agreement. Instead, he gave the three German Shepherds capsule. They were able to have more strength. And because they were army dogs, they were trained to follow only their boss’ order. And their boss is that scientist.

The scientist was able to have a moment of taking over the world. Unfortunately, there was a slight accident that the Beagle was able to swallow a capsule again. He regains his strength and talked to the German Shepherds. That Beagle was successful to convince the German Shepherds that the enemy there is the scientist.

The scientist and his side-kick were captured and are sent to jail. They were cell-mates. The security guard father got promoted and returned to the force. The son was happy with his girl and so is his dog. They live in their new and improved life and the Beagle remains a super hero.

DLSC-WTC-DLSC

Last Saturday, September 29, 2007, twenty two Engineering students and two faculties went to World Trade Center. It was the 14th Philippine International Electronics & Semiconductor, SMT and PCB Manufacturing Technology, Supplies & Services Exhibition. We left the school before 1 in the afternoon. We used two school vehicles, the KIA and the L300. Our trip going there was fun even though there was traffic. We cracked lots of jokes along the way and we really enjoyed the trip going to WTC. The KIA was earlier to arrive than the L300. When we were already at the place, we were not able to enter the exhibit right away. We have a little confusion about some things there. We were not properly informed on how to register by the organizers there. The guards told us that we have to fill up something then register. We did that and when it was our turn to hand over our registration forms, we were instructed to go to the other area. It was really a hassle because it was not clear that ordinary registration does not include students. We should’ve not placed students in our registration forms. Students were only allowed to enter the exhibit that Saturday because it was the last day. And students can only enter per batch. Originally, students were not allowed. Maybe because that exhibit was for those companies who are interested in buying equipment and supplies and students were just there to observe and learn. If only we knew earlier, then we could have escaped the hassle that we encountered. It was nice that we saw some equipment and other things. I really enjoyed our trip because we had more fun inside the shuttle than at the exhibit. Maybe for the guys, they enjoyed looking at the exhibit. Hahahaha!! Actually the ride was more fun on the way back to school. We passed thru this place and after a few minutes we were at Parañaque already. We have more jokes there and the guys were all excited to see “Engkantadia.” It was really funny how they were so looking forward to seeing this bar. They were happy when they saw it but really disappointed when they saw a guy. Hahahaha!!!! We considered the travel time our field trip and not the exhibit. Wahehehe!!

Teacher, teacher. What are you?

We were all given the chance to encounter different kinds of teachers. There are the “biased” teachers who don’t grade you based on your intellectual capabilities. But rather, they base the grade on how they favor the student. And I hate those because effort is very useless if not well-compensated. There are also the “friend-friend” teachers who are friendly inside and outside the classroom. They are too friendly that they don’t teach efficiently anymore but all their students pass. There are the “professional-professional” teachers who don’t care who or what you are. They teach and record the exam results as is. They don’t bother to look at the percentage of their passing students. They are just in school to do their job as a teacher and let the students do their part and they maintain their status as teachers inside or outside the classroom. There are those teachers who are “professional-friend”. They are those who are very good in teaching and make sure their students really learn, but suddenly transforming into an ordinary person outside the classroom. They are the ones whom we can discuss our non-academically related things in life. Traits of the last kind should be developed among all teachers, because it is a way of making themselves a well-rounded individual.

Mango float and Green mango shake

This evening I went out with Gen. Our agenda: buy grocery, internet café, and dinner. We first went to Rustan’s because there is an internet café, grocery store, and we can eat dinner there. The internet café was full when we came so we decided to guy grocery first then come back later. When we came back after buying our stuff, there was still no available slot so we decided to go to Paseo instead. We went to Paseo with our heavy grocery. Gen suggested that we go to Neospot. After Neospot, we went to Woodbridge to eat our dinner. We both ate 1 order of carbonara and a single pizza. We were not satisfied with our carbonara because our P115 was not worth it. It was not that tasty for us, and the serving is small. Carbonara in Pancake is better. Pasta in Brother’s is better. We planned to go home after that. Unfortunately we have no tricyle fare so we decided to have dessert. At first we were hesitant to go to Guilly’s because it was embarrassing to go there just to eat dessert. But we still have our dessert there. We looked at the menu and we saw pasta. We wished that we should’ve just eaten there. I told Gen that next time we will go to Guilly’s to eat pasta and desert.

My dessert... :)

Step up voltage

The term is “step up voltage.” There us no definition in the dictionary about this term as a whole. But there is a definition of “step up” and “voltage” separately. Step up is a verb meaning to increase especially in stages. Voltage is an Electromotive force or potential difference usually expressed in volts. “Step up voltage” is used in the electrical field.

The step up voltage of an appliance is the voltage when it was switched on. An example is that air-conditioning units should not be turned off and on if the vacant time is less than two hours because there’s a step up voltage before the voltage is stabilized. It means that the step up voltage is different from the voltage of an appliance. All appliances have step up voltage and it consumes more current thus resulting to higher power consumption. It is advisable that appliances should not be frequently switched off and in to avoid step up voltage. This can also help us conserve energy.

One late afternoon

Late this afternoon, some friends and I went to isawan at San Jose Village. We arrived at around 5 pm and left at 6:30 pm. Some of my friends decided to go to Paseo because the Mojofly will be performing. They were insisting that I should to go even for just an hour. I really declined because I have a feeling we will be having a session. One even said that they will give me a ride to school. Even so, I still didn’t go. I think they were disappointed because they knew that I am always on-the-go. But this week has been really exhausting for me that I want to get as much sleep as I can. I don’t regret not going because I really wanted to rest on my bed. And also I am really not sure if we are going to drink or not. I just don’t want to have some alcohol in-take this evening.

A day in Manila...

We went to DLSU-M and CSB yesterday to have a meeting with their Student Council Presidents and Student Organizations Chairperson. We talked about their dress code, their policy on public display of physical intimacy, and other discipline-related things. We also talked about on how the SC and Student Organizations are separated. They said that they are two separate bodies which have different specific role in their respective school. They were very clear on how they are separated so as not to have overlapping. It is really a good opportunity that we went there because we were able to learn that SC and Student Organizations are two different councils which are under the Students’ Affairs Office.

How am I as a listener...

How am I as a listener…? Some may say that it is just a simple question… But I cannot answer that easily. I’ve learned that there are certain kinds of listener. These are static, monotonous feedback giver, overly expressive, reader/writer, eye avoider, pre-occupied, waiting, and thought completing. Static seems like a no-reaction listener. I am not that kind. A monotonous feedback giver has same reactions to whatever he/she heard. I am also not that kind. An overly expressive is really expressive with his/her emotions that can sometimes be identified as exaggeration. I am sometimes like that especially when I am mad. I am really mad if I am mad. :) A reader/writer is a listener who writes everything. I don’t think that’s possible to write everything in full words not unless that person knew how to do short-hand writing. I don’t like to write so I am not that kind. An eye avoider is a person who avoids eye contact. I do practice eye contact with people but I am not good at it. Pre-occupied… Hmmmm… I don’t think I am a pre-occupied listener because if someone wanted to talk to me, I have to stop whatever I was doing to listen. If one sees me talking to somebody and I am doing another thing, I am not really listening. It just looks like it. One may think that I am actually listening but I am not. If I am doing both things at the same time, my focus is on what I am doing and not listening. :) Hehehehe…Waiting listeners are people who just wait for the cue that it’s their turn to speak. I am not like that because I don’t even like speaking especially in front of an audience.

Honestly, I am an attentive listener but I have low listening comprehension. Therefore I should think of ways on how to improve my listening comprehension.

September 22, 2007 Mts. Palay-Palay

We went to Mts. Palay-Palay last September 22, 2007. I think it is the last tree planting for this year. There were so many people and I saw many familiar faces. We also went last year for the launching but there are more people this year compared to last year. And also, this tree planting was the muddiest of all. But it was really fun and I am looking forward for more.

Guess...

This is a grassy place where there are lots of different weeds. It has many kinds of plants, trees, and flowers. Plants here are grouped according to their names. There are big holes nearby that are visited regularly at around 3 in the afternoon. There is also a big tree that gives shade to those who are tired. This is a good place where one can relax and have a moment with their selves. But not everybody knows this place. Some might not even know it exists. The way to this place can be muddy in an ordinary day. It will become watery muddy during a rainy day. This is a place where some have seen but don’t know what it is called.

Apple Eating

This is my Gourmet Apple when I haven't eaten it yet...

The wrapper was removed...

My apple with Gen's apple.

Genica is having a difficulty eating her apple.

I think I am enjoying eating my apple... :)

This is how our apples look after 1 hour.

We are planning to do this again... We just don't know when... Hehehe :)

Calamba escapade...

I went to Calamba this afternoon with Wawen, Yvan, Gen, Yvonne, and Marice. We left the school at around 1:45 pm. Our first destination was Bahay ni Maria. I was thinking that we will have a nice talk with the nuns because we plan on doing our outreach program there. Unfortunately, they did not welcome us there. They didn’t even open the screen door. They just talked to us from the inside and they don’t seem to be hospitable. We asked if we can schedule our outreach on October 28 and they even commented that it was not even soon. But when they checked their schedule, the whole October was already fully booked. We even asked if could have an advance schedule on November. They said that they can’t book us yet and told us to come back on November instead. They didn’t even give us some background about the street children aged people living there. And they said that they have no means of communications when we asked for their number so that we can just call instead of going there. They didn’t even asked if are we all students or what are our plans when we do the outreach. It really shows that they were not interested. We even said that we were referred by the Rotary Club of Laguna Technopark because they already did some outreach there. One thing that really pissed me off that time was when the nun told their caretaker to close the gate right after we said good bye. We have some back-talks because we went all the way there for nothing. They are the ones who will benefit and we are the ones who will shoulder the expenses for our outreach. Then, we decided to look for other possible places to have our outreach.

We planned to just go back to school because there is nothing to do there anymore. Fortunately, there were some of us who haven’t gone to the house of Rizal. So, we decided to drop by since it is open anyway. We only stayed there for less than an hour because a school was having a field trip. Too bad we were not allowed to take pictures.

Then we decided to go back to school. When we were at the ABI exit, the e-pass was working. We were surprised because we all thought that the e-pass was empty. And the traffic was heavy at the cash/coupon lane going to Calamba. If only we knew that we can still use the e-pass, we could’ve been in Calamba earlier. But there was nothing we can do anymore.

Before we headed our own separate destinations, we ate at Guilly’s Grill because it was Yvan’s birthday yesterday. The crew sang “Happy Birthday” and gave her a complimentary slice of cheese cake.

Our Calamba trip started unpleasantly but it ended really well.

A Poem...

BEFORE AND AFTER

Yesterday is past and Today is now.

What would happen when Tomorrow comes?

I really don't know but I ought to find out.

When Tomorrow comes it would be Today.

And Today would just be Yesterday.

This will repeat again and again.

I wonder why these things do happen.

Maybe I think of Yesterday.

Maybe I might reflect on Today.

Don't you think I should just learn from the Past.

And let my Future last.

Comparative Analysis

My three chosen videos were all by Rainie Yang. The videos are Guo Min, Ai Mei, and Breathless. I like the artist but I really don't understand the meaning of the songs. I just heard these on some drama series that I've watched. Based on their videos, I can see that they are all sad love songs. All the videos revolve around a girl who experienced love but later on she was left all alone.

In the Guo Min video, the girl seems to have nothing to do with her life. She lives alone in her house. She just used up all her energy being depressed and miserable. She recalls her life with her loved one. She always cries and goes to their dating place. She seems to have difficulty moving on and looks like she cannot live without the guy.

The story of the video is nice but I can't get a good look of the guy. Maybe because I just watched it from the internet. But only during the reminiscing part that it seemed bright. I find the video intriguing because it was not clear if the guy jumped off the window and then die. But I think he really did jumped because the girl repeated that same scenario, wearing the same jacket and at the same spot. And she was looking down. I think the girl jumped also. But I can never be sure because it was not shown in the video.

In the Ai Mei video, the girl was in a beach and remembering things with her guy. This is same with Guo Min because the girl lives alone. She was staying in a place where all their memories together were kept. They have pictures and even videos. The place was not well maintained that cold air and snow could enter. The girl looks pathetic that she just let the snow cover her as she recalls her past and watch their sweet videos.

The story of the video itself was not clear on how the girl ended up all alone. But for those who have watched Devil Beside You, they will have an idea of what the video symbolizes. I like the effect on how the snow slowly covers the place. And also the effects of the ice to the girl's body, how it formed on her face and hair. It was also not clear if the girl was frozen to death because of too much cold. But I like it that way because we can think of our own ending. The girl might or might not have survived that extreme condition.

The third video is Breathless in English. This is similar to the previous two that the girl is living along. The differences are the girl is locked up inside a glass thing and she hasn't found her love yet. She is still looking and dreaming for it. She was able to find her love and had wonderful memories. Unfortunately, that happiness did not last long. The girl was left alone again.

I like how all her furniture fit into her tiny place. The effect when they dramatically parted was good although it does not use high level graphic arts. I don't like her hair in this video but she still managed to look cute. Her red dress is well suited in the video.

Maybe I will be able to appreciate the videos more if only I can understand mandarin…
